Jaha, is a seasoned percussionist and enthusiastic educator who studies and performs traditional West African drum rhythms from Mali, Guinea, and the Ivory Coast. Jaha holds a B.S. degree in Mass-Communication from Voorhees college and his passion for the djembe and many other African drums began 19 years ago at the African American Cultural Center in Buffalo, NY; under the direction of Theresa R. Mingo and Youssou Lo. Through music and oral traditions, Jaha encourages students of all ages to recognize that all voices and members of the community matter and by working together, harmony is achieved.
Jaha, is a spoken word and poetry enthusiast as well as a cutting-edge DJ. He was the Musical Director for Wose West African Dance and drum ensemble (2011-2016) Voorhees College. He has performed scenes in Black Panther 2018 (Jabari Tribe percussionist) and Coming to America 2020 (Royal court percussionist). Jaha is also a passionate chef specializing in African, French, Mediterranean, Creole, Gullah/southern and vegan cuisine.
His passion for educating future scholars, lead him to become an Instructor at Engaging creative minds (2014-2016) and from 2018-2019 he used his creative genius to expose and cultivate students as a music teacher at The Kindezi School.
