He grew up in northern Italy, near Turin and his parents were Baptist missionaries. He came to the States to attend college and then worked as a waiter for 15 years while pursuing his love for ceramic art and sculpture. In the prelude to the 1996 Olympics, he became involved with the non-profit Individual Artists Coalition to ensure that Georgia artists were represented in the Olympics. While writing grants he became involved with Fulton County, eventually working as pottery instructor at South Fulton Arts Center, and eventually as supervisor at the Southwest Arts Center.
In 2004, he retired from SWAC to move to Rockmart in order to care for his elderly parents. He took the volunteer position as gallery director of the city’s gallery, eventually becoming chair of the Rockmart Civic Arts Commission, where he helped develop programming in the newly built Cultural Arts Center. Since 2008 he has been teaching 4 pottery classes a week on a year-round basis. In 2005, he was given the opportunity to teach art and pottery at South Gwinnett High School with a provisional certificate, where he taught on a part-time basis for two years.
Paul enjoys combining teaching, making art, and volunteering at the arts center. For the past few years, he has been busy executing commissions. He enjoys collaborating with patrons to produce custom work. Besides his art activities, he has a recurve bow which he shoots every day. Also, he has an electric bass guitar with which he jams to occasionally with his drummer cousin and with my 6-string-guitar-player brother-in law.
